This Tarn (mountain lake) is a scenoic spot located 180 metres up in the fells North East of Coniston, operated through the National trust there are good footpaths, and a circular walk around this very scenic spot. there is a large car Park for the Tarn.
On first glance it may look like a very well preserved medieval castle but in fact is a Victorian 1840 build which was passed to the National rust in 1929. Now open to the public together with impressive grounds which include Giant Redwood trees and other specimen trees
