A combination of a lot of things, the history, the beach, the pubs , the location... these are all good things. Wetherspoons and the little Angel pub are favourites of ours.
The negative are, things can be a little bit pricy. Not all the fish and chip shops are good.

We love Whitby and keep coming back.
We love Whitby and keep coming back.
Of course there is the link for Goth and Steampunk weekends, our main reason for revisiting, but the town, sites, people and the Abbey are there all year round - well worth a visit at any time of year. Oh, and don't forget about Dracula...

Whitby is our favourite place & we go several times a year. There are some lovely eating places, bars & coffee shops {the flat white coffee in Coopers is the best). Getting around is slightly difficult for me as I am in a wheelchair so we just have to plan our days but apart from that its great.
Breakfast was tasty and the beds were comfortable the hotel also wasn't very far from the restaurants and whitby shops so thats a big bonus in my eyes.
the staff were also very useful and frendly my mom loved the expirence I thought the price was a bargain as the staff also listened to my concerns and took notes about how hot my room was they were also very knowledgible at transport which was a life saver for someone who lives with someone who can't follow directions well oh and the food they cooked was amazingly tasty as well.
The quaint feel of the attic space apartment was perfect for us. It felt cosy and was perfect for a couple. The walk into Whitby was quick and easy, with many amenities on the doorstep. The guidebook helped with some suggestions of places to visit and we enjoyed two wonderful meals: Abbey Harbour and Moon and Sixpence, as well as delicious cocktails at Cafe Montmarte. All in all, a wonderful break, where we would be happy to stay again.
Travelled to Whitby for an over night stay with my 80 year old mum. We had separate single, sea view rooms, which were basic but comfortable and clean. Great view of the abbey and harbour. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice.
Great evening entertainment in the bar. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient. Great location for walking down to the harbour and ample nearby parking.
amazing location with beautiful views across the harbour! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were great for a hostel in a historic building. We appreciated that this isn’t a party hostel, most other people staying were families, walkers or cyclists looking for a quiet space for the night. We will absolutely be recommending this hostel to anyone staying in Whitby.
We found the hotel beautiful.
Our room was excellent, spacious and comfortable.
The bathroom was also of a high standard, TV above the bath and the spa bath was a welcome bonus after our walking.
The staff were always help and polite, nothing to much trouble for them.
Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, cooked very well and beautifully presented.
Would stay again.
A perfect stay in a very comfortable and beautifully maintained cottage. An easy 5-10 minute level walk into the centre of Whitby via the harbourside. Great for viewing the passing trains (don't worry, there is less than one an hour, if they aren't your thing!). Lovely views across to the harbour and up to the Abbey.
Fraser's was immaculately clean with everything you could possibly need. Kitchen and bathroom were spacious, as were the bedrooms They even supplied a welcome pack to get you started. Free parking was just outside Communication was clear and Richard was easily contactable. Would definitely return if staying in Whitby.
We love that the hotel & pub are next door to each other love the walk into whitby all downhill bus or taxi back great car park never have to worry about finding a space & breakfast is great served in the lovely penny hedge pub.the staff are the best so friendly helpfull & really seem to love their job
The location was very good where we were.
Just 5 minutes walk into Whitby
We managed to get a carparking space.
Which was a bonus.
Checking in and out was very good.
The staff are very friendly and very helpful and kind.
The hotel is very old but lovely at the same time
The breakfast was very nice.
The room had a very good view of the sea and well-placed chairs. The bed was comfortable. The man at reception was able to give us very helpful information about parking and the hotel also provided a limited number of spaces. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Whitby.
Beautifully furnished, comfortable luxury hotel in great location. Lovely couple, Peter and Julie, happy to offer their extensive knowledge of Whitby to make your stay perfect and we looked forward to our daily catch ups with them. Highly recommended and would love to stay again.
Lovely little place. The staff, from the bar staff to the manager were really friendly and very helpful. We stayed in room 6 which was a beautiful room. The bed was super comfy and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely book here again the next time we're in Whitby.
This hotel is exceptional, lovely friendly staff, super room, very comfortable, supplied with Elemis toiletries and lovely thick towelling robes. Excellent food served in the orangery with fabulous view over the bay. Great surrounding area, close to Whitby and Scarborough.
Great apartment, spacious enough for the family of 4. Very comfortable with everything you may need. Clean. On the first floor with parking space, what seems to be a luxury in Whitby. Very close to the harbour, walking distance to most of the places.
The room was comfortable and spacious. Fabulous views over the harbour and the bar only a stroll downstairs! We had a full English breakfast in the morning to set us up for the day! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Whitby!
The hotel is right in the middle of the amusement section of town. Not as nice as the other side but there were some good restaurants.
The view of Whitby as you drive into town is beautiful and the Abbey ruins were stunning.
Breakfast was perfect, room was clean, spacious and had exceptional views, location fantastic, hosts welcoming and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Whitby. Perfect weekend break.
The food was excellent and well presented. The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel was right in the middle of Whitby and within easy walking distant of most places.
Stepping into luxury in beautiful location, close to the sea. Staff very welcoming and not at all stuffy. Lovely views from swimming pool and Spa an added bonus
