The sushi menu, decor, staff, breakfast - very quick to arrive. I found the stairs difficult being disabled there are stairs and some without handrails or only on one side. Otherwise a near perfect score, well done and great value for money as well too.

Royal Dockyard of the British Isles

In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. The coastal area is nice to walk along. The Mary Rose & Victory Museum are very good.
Portsmouth city centre is dull, lacking greenery or planters, many shops are empty. It is not an attractive city centre!
There is a statue of Charles Dickens in the Guildsquare otherwise the area is grim.

The attraction was the harbour.
The attraction was the harbour. The ticket was expensive but well worth it. The Mary Rose Museum was phenomenally good - exciting, imaginitive and caught the attention of grandparents, parents and children alike. The Victory was almost equally good and the guides there were exceptional. We also visited the Warrior where the guide took over explaining to the children, told us an immense amount but also had us all in fits of laughter. Strongly recommended for all ages
We also very much enjoyed Portchester castle and the exhibition on the prison there (and the cafe in the church.

I come to Portsmouth regularly, a very clean city and friendly people, full of history especially naval, lots to do and see, lovely pubs and restaurants, Southsea is a must, good bus service plenty of good hotels, I'd recommend the Spice Island in old Portsmouth and the Ship Anson in The Hard Old Portsmouth is worth visiting
Great little hotel right next to Portsmouth Harbour: convenient for rail, Isle of Wight ferry, Gunwharf Quays, and the historic Dockyard.
Good standard of cleanliness throughout, food was good quality and quantity at reasonable price, and the staff were excellent. Knows the market it is catering for and obviously very much a "Navy" establishment.
Travelling for business - even allowed me to park all day following check-out, which they didn't have to but was greatly appreciated. Will be booking to stay again.
Front staff was very accommodating, as we arrived late due to cancelled flight. They also received and held our covid testing kit until our arrival. The room is very nice, comfortable and clean. Love the heated towel bar and coffee in the room. The hotel is nice. We had fish n chips and bangers and mash in the pub. Food was great. Bar tender and servers were all friendly and provided great service. We highly recommend this place to stay when coming to Portsmouth. We came here to take a cruise from the port.
Location in Old Portsmouth was superb - just a short walk to the Harbour entrance or to Gunwharf Quays.
Accommodation provides a free parking permit for the zone which is brilliant, and the roads are fairly quiet in this part of Portsmouth
Convenient Co-Op shop is very close by for drinks and snacks to take to your room
Great view of Spinnaker Tower from our room on 2nd floor
Staff very helpful in sorting out our couple of issues on arrival
The equidistance of the Old Portsmouth/Gunwharf Quays and Southsea seaside neighborhoods location of this Holiday Inn is probably its strongest point.Within a 10-15' walking radius, you've got all the action and sightseeings!
You can tell that you are in a global. leading Hotel chain, most of the facilities and comfort are there and ticking most boxes.Very clean room and good value for money.
It was the closest hotel to where our son is now living in Portsmouth (we live in Northamptonshire). The 20%off all food made the entire visit much cheaper than usual. We requested a bath and we had one. The food was delightful and plentiful. Staff were very attentive to all our questions/ needs. Offer of more towels was nice even though we hadn’t used all of our original ones yet.
Beautiful hotel right by the Portsmouth historic Dockyard, Spinaker Tower and Gunwharf Quay shopping centre. Free onsite parking which was locked overnight. We didn't use the car at all as everything easily accessible. Staff really friendly. First class breakfast. So much choice. Poached egg was cooked to perfection. Would definitely stay again.
We were very pleased with the hotel fantastic staff very helpful on check in and out and provided all the information we needed as well as help with the paying of the car park. Room was big bed very comfortable and shower modern and powerful. Easy parkinf available big car park. Would stay here again. Breakfast included high was a bonus.
The room was actually in the carriage house behind the main street/hotel. In addition to our bed, there was and extra twin bed in the room and plenty of space for our suitcases. It was walking distance to the Hovercraft and many restaurants and historic/interesting sights.
Wonderful property, especially for the price. Cheaper and closer to centre of Southsea than a hotel and more than you could want. Super clean, provided tea and coffee and shower gel, up there with one of the best places I’ve stayed
The location was excellent. It was near the Gunwharf Quays and Portsmouth Harbour station which meant that it was easy to find a place to have food and drinks and also to go to the airport/anywhere.
very good hotel, good location, the price including breakfast is very good. The food is also good, the staff is very friendly, parking is free. I don't think we need more. Everything is excellent
The location of this hotel is excellent within Gunwharf Quay and less than 5 mins walk from Portsmouth Harbour station and ferry. Breakfast was nice and the room comfortable for a short stay.
Great location, perfect for visiting the old harbour attractions and Gunwharf Quays. Close to train Portsmouth Harbour train station, Isle of Wight ferry and ferry across to Gosport.
Very good customer service and friendly staff. The hotel is convenient and not too far from the main attractions in Portsmouth. The rooms are convenient and clean.
The Hotel is close to the Hovercraft station, Gunwharf Quays & Portsmouth Town centre. We didn't move the car for 4 days as walked or used public transport.
