Alden and Amanda escaped to the country in 2020 with our three boys and their grandmother (Jo). We love the rolling beauty of the Welsh Borders, the slower, more informal way of life, the lack of traffic and the friendliness of the local people.

Our four large and elegant ensuite rooms form part of a beautiful and historically significant country house dating from 1760. All rooms have stunning views of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The House was originally the Dower House of nearby Stanage Castle, has a blue plaque commemorating former resident Sir Wilfred Thesiger (author and explorer), and has hosted many famous people over the years including: Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, Winston Churchill, Mick Jagger and the Beckhams. We sit in 3.5 acres of lawns, gardens, orchard, woodland and paddocks next to the River Teme in the Radnorshire Hills. PLEASE NOTE: We have limited catering facilities and our breakfast offer is very simple. We provide self-service toast with butter or dairy free spread, jam and marmalade, various teas and instant coffee, fresh fruit (from our own garden and orchard when available), fruit juices and yoghurts. In good weather breakfast can be taken on the stunning lawn, otherwise most guests are happy to eat in their rooms. We don't want to disappoint anyone, so please bear this in mind when booking. I'm afraid we are not able to host dogs or other pets. We have two dogs of our own, are surrounded by farm animals and horses and own both chickens and ducks. Milebrook is perfectly located just outside the pretty village of Knighton (half-way point of Offas Dyke). We are very near the stunning half-timbered town of Ludlow and provide easy access to Hereford, Shrewsbury, Leominster and Worcester. To the North is Snowdonia National Park, and to the South are the breath-taking Brecon Beacons. Wales' has the greatest density of castles than anywhere in the world and we are perfectly situated for cyclists, walkers and explorers of all ages.
