The Goat House at Ivy Cottage is a great place to stop and rest either to break a journey, a romantic weekend or to spend a few days visiting the area. The separate annex, which has been rebuilt to modern (award winning) standards, sits in the grounds behind the main house, offering quietness and privacy. The accommodation is spacious and light, offering a large sitting room with a 55" Smart Television, a double bedroom, a spacious bathroom and hallway. Breakfast would normally be served in the main house, however in these uncertain "Covid" times we now deliver a tray of deliciousness to you. All locally sourced food with eggs from the village, homemade jams, marmalades and freshly squeezed orange juice. We will ask for your breakfast choices on arrival. Here at Ivy Cottage we operate a fully compliant PPE policy and take extra care cleaning the rooms. We ask please that you park your car in front of the garden on the road (it is a very quiet village) and walk up the drive to use the separate sidegate into the cottage (second gate on left). Please do NOT drive up the drive and turn your car in our neighbours driveway..
The Goat House at Ivy Cottage has been running as a bed and breakfast for 11 years with happy customers, plenty from all over the world who keep on coming back! I have worked in the tourism industry for many year and know what is required to make your stay exceptional.
The village of Laxton is unique, steeped in history and is the last remaining village in the UK to practice the Medieval Open Field Farming System. At the centre of the village is a Visitors Centre open from dawn til dusk, and pinfolds dotted around the fields offering information on the history of the system. There are many walks and visiting attractions on the doorstep. Just a few hundred metres away is our award winning pub "The Dovecote Inn", which is certainly worth a visit! And is open every day of the week bar Tuesday's. I would recommend reserving a table to save disappointment, please let me know if you would like me to organise this for you.. In the neighbouring village is the Old Plough Inn, a lovely walk if you have time on your hands..
