FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

    Bath is a great city.

Bath is a great city. It was the accommodation that was the problem, we were entirely mislead by photos of the interior and exterior. Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants are a bit pricey. Lots to see and do.

this is a lovely city to visit, and I really enjoyed what there was to do and the dining options were great! I would visit again! The Roman Bath tour is wonderful, and I really enjoyed the Thermae Bath Spa - highly recommend it! It was easy to take the train to Salisbury and see Stonehenge from here as well. It is easy to get around walking or else jump in a taxi. We took the train to Bath from London - 1 1/2 hours so easy to get to. I was disappointed in the hotel we stayed at and would not go there again, but it looks like there are many other lovely places to stay.

We were so lucky that the sun came out and we walked everywhere. The city is pretty and enjoyable from and to every corner, filled with history and ancient sites, new things to learn and discover. There are many places for food and drinks but it depends on what you want to do: as there are many parks and green areas you can also opt for buying a few things in a supermarket and then lay down on the grass with your company! It is pretty easy to go around the city and there are many places where information could be asked if needed. We did not have much time this time, but... Next time I definitely would love to enter the Roman Baths, which are always very busy to even book in advance, especially during May-June.

There is so much to do and see in Bath.

There is so much to do and see in Bath. It is the only UK city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One can visit Bath for day trip or stay for a few days. There is so much to do and see. The City allows one to be transported back through time to travel centuries in just a few steps. Bath is a city that offers so much to visitors. There is a wide range from cultural attractions, historical sites and museums, to theatre and performance venues, to unique art galleries. e.g. Architectural masterpieces like the Royal Crescent and the Circus; Bath Abbey; The Roman Baths dating back to AD43; The Holburne Museum; The Jane Austen Centre; Pulteney Bridge that was built in the late 1700's to connect central Bath to land on the other side of the River Avon. Shopping experience: Bath is a lovely place to shop. It is offers an excellent mix of independent shops and fashionable high-street brands. The shops are closer together and right by the train and bus stations. Places to eat: Bath offers a variety of places to eat and takeaways. There is a very wide range of cuisine. Something for everyone.

We took the best room in the hotel because I concluded that from the window you could see Bath Abbey. The location is great---steps from the Roman Baths and restaurants and shops. The hotel is novel---all rooms open on a central courtyard and it's in an historic building. Our two rooms were perfect for our group of 5 (4 adults, one teenager). The kitchen was very functional so we were able to eat breakfast together in the room.
