Mendip Hills AONB Hotels Map

The Mendip Hills AONB, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is located in south west England in the county of Somerset, a very scenic area of Limestone hills with walks and attractions to be had. One of the major draws to the area is the spectacular Cheddar Gorge with the road descending though the gorge, flanked by high rocks either side down to the village of Cheddar. Though the village is only just outside the AONB, it is a popular draw for visitors, with several caves, tea shops and still set in a very picturesque location.
To the South east of the Medips the small cathedral city of Wells is another popular draw for both the Cathedral and associated Bishops Palace. Not far from Wells, in the south of the Mendips, Wookey Hole is an attraction for all the family, with guided tours of the caves, paper making demonstrations, and an old fashioned penny arcade amongst many other attractions on the site.
