The YHA Buttermere is set in a lovely quiet lakeland valley with fell views all around close to the village of Buttermere, overlooking the lake of the same name and not too far from Crummock Water. the Village is only 5 minutes walk away with two hotels also serving food and with a bar.
The hostel has its own internal Cafe and Bar with meals available, or make use of the self catering facilities.
Ideal for walkers and cyclists though there is free parking if you are driving. If you are using the hostel as a base, check out the many walks, with fells all around you are spoilt for choice and a great place to walk in a somewhat quieter part of the Lake District. You may also stumble across remnants of the slate industry that was once in the area, The fist clue is the YHA Buttermere itself built with Buttermere Slate.
